Homemade Christmas gift idea: Peppermint bark

I packaged these in cleaned quart size mason jars that I bought at Goodwill. The Goodwill near my house sells all the quart mouth jars for .29 cents each.

I’ve seen some websites offering recipes of peppermint bark and this is my version. You will need:
-Chocolate, about 24 ounces, your choice of dark or milk.
-An equal part of white chocolate.
-A couple of crushed candy canes.
-About 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)

Line a heavy duty sheet pan with parchment paper, allowing the sides to drape over the edges of the pan.

Once it is completely melted pour it on top of the dark chocolate. Sprinkle the top with the crushed candy canes. DSC 0045 1024x681 Homemade Christmas gift idea: Peppermint bark Let it set, and then peel off the parchment. At this point you can crack the bark into pieces, or cut it into squares as I’ve done in the first photo. Happy Holidays!

  1. Your peppermint bark looks great. But I am really jealous about your Goodwill. The thrift stores in my area put .99 and .79 on their quart jars. Not a bargain at all! Sincerely, Emily

    • Where they come up with their prices I’m really not sure. The half gallon mason jars are priced at $2.99/each, which is a total rip considering that Bi-Mart, the store next door, sells cases of 6 half gallon mason jars for $9.99.
